Abstract

This paper describes the method of preparing samples for dosimetric research in the territory of Akmola region.
On the territory of this region there are settlements (Stepnogorsk, Kvartsitka, Aksu, Zavodskoy), near which natural uranium is extracted and processed. Therefore, it is important to conduct research on the assessment of external radiation doses in these localities. River sand and red brick were selected as samples. They consist of silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ), which is used in luminescent dosimetry. River sand was collected on the bank of the river, it was annealed in a muffle furnace, then it was packaged and transported to the Stepnogorsk city for display at several sites (including a uranium quarry and a tailings storage
facility). Red (ceramic) bricks were selected from an abandoned house located on the outskirts of the Stepnogorsk city, as well as from the fence for the ground heat exchanger in one of the neighborhoods. They were sent for research to the Laboratory of Medical and Environmental Dosimetry and Radiation Safety of the A.Tsyb MRRC (Obninsk, Russia). Sample preparation is
an integral and important part of dosimetric research.
